Downloading Searchy
Searchy can be downloaded from this page, which will always contain the latest version.
Latest version
The latest version of Searchy is version 1.80, which was released on 1 January, 2009. Please check the release notes below before downloading Searchy via the link at the bottom of this page.
System requirements
To use Searchy, you will need at least the following:
- RISC OS 3.50 or later
- 640k free memory
- 200k free disc space
- An Internet connection
- A supported web browser (see below)
Supported web browsers
Searchy is known to work with the following web browsers:
- NetSurf
- Oregano and Oregano2
- Fresco
- Browse and Phoenix
- WebsterXL
Searchy has not been tested with Peter Naulls' port of Firefox to RISC OS, and there are currently no plans to do so. Having said this, I have recieved various reports that Searchy will indeed work with !Firefox2 on an Iyonix or A9Home system. As I don't own either of these systems, I can't offer support for using Searchy with !Firefox2.
Release notes - Version 1.80
Welcome and thank you for downloading Searchy version 1.80.
This update contains various fixes and improvements over the
previous versions. The main differences are as follows:
Choices windows have been rearranged to cope with the default
font settings in RISC OS Select 5i1 (RISC OS 6.14), and to
cope better if you use the rounded button icon options in
RISC OS Select.
The !Help file has been rewritten to fit more with changes
to the application since version 1.00, for which the !Help
file was written.
Searchy and its system variables are now officially allocated
with RISC OS Open Ltd. (Something which should have been done
before version 1.00 was written... Oops!) Also, the sprites
used on the search windows are no longer stored in the WIMP
sprite pool, which was a naughty thing that I've been meaning
to fix for a long time!
