Links and Articles
This page contains some links that may be useful, as well as some links to some articles I've written or sites that I've contributed to.
Note that this list isn't yet complete and I will from time to time add more to this page.
RISC OS related
The Icon Bar
The Icon Bar is one of the few RISC OS news portals remaining. I've been part of the news writing team for TIB for a few yars now. Some vaguely notable posts of mine are:
I can also usually be found around the forum on TIB.
Disney related
Studios Central
In early 2008, I was asked by Matt Hochberg of Studios Central and the WDWToday podcast if I would like to write a few articles to fill in for one of the regular columnists who was away for a few weeks. The result was the Worlds Apart column. So far, eight articles in the series have been published on the website:
- Worlds Apart 1: The Studios that Never Were
- Worlds Apart 2: Hollywood comes to Europe (Part 1)
- Worlds Apart 3: Hollywood comes to Europe (Part 2)
- Worlds Apart 4: Disney's Cinema Parade
- Worlds Apart 5: Toon Studios
- Worlds Apart 6: The Big Drop
- Worlds Apart 7: Where the Stars and Motorcars Went Next
- Worlds Apart 8: Walt Disney Studios Paris into the Future
As well as writing those articles, I can often be found lurking in the community forum on Studios Central.
Subsonic Radio
When I was in university, I happened across an online streaming radio station called Subsonic Radio which had just started up as a site streaming Disney Theme Park Audio and Music. Ever since then, I've been hanging around on the forum, and occasionally bother to moderate the forums and nuke the spam. As I was around at the very beginning of the site, I'm user number 5 of what's now over 7000.
Reflections of Imagination
Reflections of Imagination (RoI for short) is a blog I started with one of the other administrators of Subsonic Radio - although he posts to it a lot more than I do these days... The basic idea was to bring together articles and news from other sites.
Disney in my Life
Disney in my Life is a unique idea among Disney websites. The basic idea is that everywhere you go in the world there's something that can remind you of something Disney. The site collects photos of all of these things.
Podcasts I listen to
WDWToday
WDWToday is the Disney podcast for anyone that's planning a trip or needs a Disney fix between trips. I've been listening to WDWToday for a while now, and went along to their 2010 TentFest event at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
BetaMouse
BetaMouse is a fairly new podcast aimed at those who love both Disney and technology. Run by Henry Work of TouringPlans.com, if you ever wanted to know how you could use technology to aid you in your Disney holidays, this is the one to listen to.
Netcot
Netcot is a nice and easy podcast to listen to and brings together the latest news and some interesting facts and figures about what's going on at Disney. Although the frequency of podcasts has gotten a bit erratic of late, it's still a great podcast to listen to.
The WDW Radio Show
Lou Mongello is probably best described as ab über-fan of all things Disney. His weekly podcast always contains a huge array of news, reviews, interviews and discussions of all things Disney.
This Week in Tech
I also listen to several of the podcasts from the TWiT network. Currently, these are This Week in Tech, This Week in Google, Windows Weekly, MacBreak Weekly, Net@Night and Security Now. Generally, I watch the video versions of these podcasts rather than the audio only versions.
